Hundreds of delegates from all over the country and in neighboring countries gathered together for the 2015 International Social Science Camp, held at the Iloilo Central Elementary School in Iloilo City from October 24-28, 2015. The event was organized by the Borres Youth Leadership Institute in partnership with the University of San Agustin Social Science Department.
On its third year, the International Social Science Camp featured the theme “Eliminating Social Inequities towards Global Unity.” The camp aims to provide venues and opportunities for young people to develop their basic understanding of various social science disciplines in order to become a community of young and responsible global leaders of the future.
Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales took the stage on the 4th day of the camp, to speak about “The Role of Media in Eliminating Social Inequities.” Having started his broadcasting career at the young age of 16, Pocholo shared how he utilized the power of broadcast media to promote and develop his advocacy on empowering the youth, then and now. He also shared how to merge the power of broadcast media and social media in this day and age in order to become agents of positive social change.
Pocholo also did what he does best onstage – inspired and motivated the audience to believe in their own greatness, and to use their talents and skills to make other people better and happy. He shared his humble beginnings as someone who started out as a dreamer, who then decided that young age is not an excuse for someone to not do what he’s meant to do in life.
Hundreds of young people have once again been inspired, motivated and empowered by the VoiceMaster.
