The VoiceMaster Inspires Bataeno Youth on Personal Branding

The VoiceMaster Inspires Bataeno Youth on Personal Branding

On December 4, the Asia Pacific College of Advanced Studies (APCAS) held its 6th Annual Career Summit at the Villa Amanda Resort in Abucay, Bataan. The theme of the seminar is “Building the ME within you,” where 1,000 Senior High School and College students of APCAS gathered to learn about developing a positive self-image and personal brand from Filipino motivational speaker, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.

The seminar began with a presentation about the different generations, which was presented by APCAS President, Ms. Flocerfida Ayangco. She showed research data about the differences of Baby Boomers, Generation X and millennials approach various aspects of their life – including career preparation, social norms and personal development. Ms. Ayangco’s presentation was an eye opener that while there are differences across generations, there are also some similarities that can be reconciled.
Pocholo’s talk was the main highlight of the seminar. He started the presentation at high energy as he made the audience laugh and applaud with his wit, humor and a list of hugot lines. Pocholo also gave the audience an overview of the voice acting industry, how he became a voice artist and a voice teacher, and how he has written the first-ever voice acting book that was recently recognized as the “Best Book on Professions.”

Pocholo started sharing the story of his personal journey towards greatness – from a young province boy who dreamed of hearing his voice on the radio, to someone who has created the venue to make this dream a reality, not only for him, but for thousands of other youth. He told of the challenges he encountered in order to make his mark in the voice acting industry, and how he overcame the odds despite being told he was not good enough.
Pocholo also talked about national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, whom he considers to be the epitome of Filipino greatness and excellence. He encouraged the students to write, the way Rizal did, in service of his country and fellowmen. Pocholo also highlighted how travelling is one of the greatest teachers that will help them become world-class citizens.

Pocholo then shifted to the topic of Personal Branding. According to Pocholo, your brand is what people say when you are not around. In other words, you know you have established your brand when your name is the first one that comes up when people talk about your particular industry or craft. But for Pocholo, branding is more about simply “standing out,” rather, it is about discovering and living one’s life purpose.
Pocholo helped the students identify their life purpose by giving them 5 simple yet profound questions to answer. Towards the end, he gave the audience a few minutes to write a letter to their “future self,” to help them envision and see themselves fulfilling their dreams. In the end, the students were inspired and motivated to dream big and become the best version of themselves.
