The VoiceMaster Speaks about the Power of Voice at the Retreat Facilitators’ Bootcamp

The Retreat Facilitators’ Bootcamp was held from January 11-14 at the Manresa Retreat House in Quezon City. This 4-day event was organized by Be Blest Training and Formation Center through its founder, Happiness Teacher Bryson Bonsol. Several speakers were invited to teach the participants various skills to hone and develop their facilitation skills.

Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was one of the speakers on the last day of the boot camp, who talked about the power of voice in retreat facilitation. After energizing the crowd with a quick icebreaker, Pocholo introduced himself and his work as a voice artist, voice director and voice teacher. He gave the audience a background on the voice acting industry, and even amazed them with a repertoire of character voices. Pocholo also talked about his voice acting school, the Philippine Center for Voice Acting, and how it has helped realize the dreams of more than 1,000 aspiring voice artists for over a decade.

Pocholo’s talk about the art of voice acting was his transition to talk about the power of voice, especially in teaching and public speaking. He gave the audience a glimpse of his voice workshops, by teaching them the process of producing the voice. He also walked through the various elements of the voice such as pitch, tempo and volume, and how to use them effectively to make their retreat facilitation engaging, powerful and memorable.

Pocholo walked the audience through a few exercises for relaxation, breathing and resonation, which are the important aspects in producing a powerful voice. He also gave the audience some tips on how to take care of their voice, which are also found in his book “Voice Care for Teachers” and his award-winning book “Gusto Kong Maging Voice Talent.”

In the end, Pocholo wrapped up his talk by encouraging the participants to utilize their voice to spread the message of hope and positivity. “Our voice is God’s gift to us, and how we use our voice is our gift back to God.”
