The VoiceMaster Inspires the Youth of Barangay Langgam, San Pedro, Laguna
On November 30, 50 college students from various schools of Barangay Langgam, San Pedro, Laguna, gathered for a Capacity Building Activity. The whole-day event was held at the Zacona Eco-Resort and Biblical Garden in San Pablo, Laguna, where the youth participated in fellowship activities, teambuilding and a motivational talk by Filipino motivational speaker, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.
In his hour-long talk, Pocholo motivated the participants towards self-discovery. He began his presentation by sharing the story of how he discovered his talent in voice acting, as well as his passion for inspiring and empowering young people. He shared his humble beginnings as a boy who grew up in the province of Bataan, and how he decided as a young age to pursue his passion at age 16, while studying college. He also talked about the places he travelled, both as a Filipino motivational speaker and a youth advocate, and encouraged the participants to also experience the world through travelling.
His travels were Pocholo’s transition to talk about his idol, Dr. Jose Rizal, whom he considers to be the epitome of Filipino greatness and excellence. Pocholo talked about Rizal’s journeys around the world, as well as little-known tidbits about the hero’s history. He challenged the participants to practice writing about themselves and their interests, even through blogs and online articles. According to Pocholo, writing is a great way to share and express one’s passions and interests, and also becomes part of a person’s history.
Pocholo also entertained the participants by sharing his skills and passion in voice acting. He talked a little bit about the industry, and how he started to be part of it. Pocholo amazed the audience with his repertoire of character voices – from cartoon characters to commercials to celebrities. He emphasized the importance of discovering one’s craft and aiming to become a master at it, the way he did with voice acting.
The highlight of the talk was when Pocholo talked about discovering one’s life purpose, with which he gave the participants questions that they could reflect on to discover theirs. The participants were silent for several minutes as Pocholo instructed them to write a letter to their “future self,” so that they can create a vision for themselves a decade from now.
The Capacity Building Activity was organized by the Task Force on Youth Development and the 11thLegislative Council under the supervision of its Chairman, Hon. Romeo Poyaoan, and Councilor Bethlehem Rama.
