The VoiceMaster Inspires Business Educators in ACLADEB’s 4th ASEAN+ Convention

The 4th ASEAN+ Convention happened on January 25-26, 2018 at the Alta Cebu Village Garden Resort and Convention Center in Cebu City. Organized by the Asian+ Council of Leaders, Administrators, Deans and Educators in Business (ACLADEB), the convention is an annual gathering of school administrators, officials, deans, business educators, industry partners, and business chambers of ASEAN member countries.

Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo Gonzales speaks at ACLADEB’s 4th ASEAN+ Convention

Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales spoke on the first day of the summit. In line with the convention’s theme, “International Assessment on Economic Development thru Business and Education,” Pocholo spoke about the future of business education in the age of digital media.
Pocholo began his presentation by introducing himself and his work – his 22-year career in the world of voice acting, his international exposure as a youth advocate, and his work as an author, voice coach and Filipino motivational speaker. He energized the crowd with his wit, collection of hugot lines, and ensemble of character voices. Furthermore, Pocholo touched on the principles of National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, whom he considers to be the epitome of greatness and excellence of Filipinos. He also challenged Rizal’s statement that “the youth is the hope of the nation,” and reminded the audience of their responsibility as educators to ensure that such hope is realized.

Pocholo then transitioned to the meat of his presentation which he called “Teach-nology.” As a futurist, Pocholo gave the audience a glimpse of how digital technology has transformed the way young minds learn, creating a huge gap from the way teachers today learned when they were students. He also talked about the traits, characteristics and behaviors of the youth today, who have been literally pacified with technology as they were growing up.

Pocholo gave the audience tips and principles in teaching today’s youth, which he has studied and written in his book, “Voice Care for Teachers.” He talked about integrating technology, kinesthetic activities, self-paced learning to today’s education model, in order to adapt to the way students learn in this day and age. He ended his presentation with words of wisdom for the audience: “If your students can’t learn with the way you teach, teach the way they learn.”
